I think lot of labor subs guys have already got their GC ..there maybe sizeable number though remaining. in the example that I gave ..these guys didnt even get a decent job ..so they didnt even come to the GC scene.
also lot of people were having multiple H-1's ..so I am trying to be optimist in suggesting that the real demand may not be that much ..also, because of repeated complaints ..I would think that USCIS will try to push as many EB3- I cases as possible ..so they can show that dates are not severly retrogressed. these are all optimistic thinking points ..as one of my telugu friends told me ..even paan wallah's were coming from hyderabad ...and I guess for their own good 90% of them went back to get oppurtunities in India. many of them were already working in govt positions ..and I guess H1 hiring was almost at a standstill during the last downturn.

I totally agree - our concern should begin and end with whether our interests are addressed or not. This is not the time to argue and nitpick on what is good for the whole world in the long term - remember, there is no "long term" for us without a GC. Lets be realistic - its a done deal that EB reform if all it comes up, will come with either a generous H1-B increase or illegal alien amnesty or both of them. Its not our job to worry about excessive immigration - the anti-immigrants and their friendly congressmen are always there to raise a hue and cry and dilute any and all pro-immigrant proposals. With them at work, if we ask for a yard we will get a foot, if we ask for a foot we will end up with not even an inch.
Well, it is not a perfect world. It is not a perfect system. When CIR comes up every group will push for their interests. If u send a mail to any Senator, all u get is a standard reply about H1-B. It will be impossible to educate every ligislator. We have to do the best we can to voice our concerns and go with the tide. My papers were received at Nebraska Center by one... M. Schwitzer on 30th July. So far nothing... no receipts, no encashed checks.
Latest frontlog update shows they have reached 29th July. It is a farce. In my office, I know of at least 5 guys whose papers were received in Nebraska Center between 17th to 20th July. Their checks are not even encashed till today.
They just put in wrong and fake info just to please their bosses. This is a messy setup.
Perhaps it is time for us to wake up one day and head to our "real and true" homes! May be we will eat Dal Roti only but we would be proud of ourselves and not remain at the mercy of these insensitive folks at INS. I am sure most of them are guys like you and me, but the system sucks and deep inside our hearts we off-load our anger and frustation at them....

I am appalled by this development, but their is little in our control over this development. Evidently, it's repurcussion of mass conversion of EB3 to 2. But again that is not what we want to discuss over.
Their were couple of good suggestions, re-initiate Thank You/ Rose campiange and write mass letters of concern to Admistration. Petitions or challanges in court won't work, as immigration is not a right but previlage granted by USA. And USCIS will have sufficient data to back its claims.

I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.
I have filed 485 with approved 140 back in june, 2007 with PD of March, 2003

The link in my earlier post is a job advertisement which clearly states that EAD folks need not apply. There are 1000s of folks out there who are eligible for that position, but for the EAD restriction.
My question is -
what are these "1000s of folks" doing? Are they waiting for someone else to work for their cause?
If they believe they were wronged, they need to take action. Without any action, nothing is going to happen.
And, yes, these is discrimination on the both side of the lines. Have you looked at the hiring practices of leading desi outsourcing/consulting companies in the US?

We cannot reject numbersusa and other organizartion's ideas. As our people are suffering in retrogession some of their people and their families are impacted because of job loss in past. So we cannot tell that they do not have crediblity. They have some valid points also though some of them are absurd. But we need to understand them and try to elimimate their fears also.

They almost always take some kind of FPs. What I mean is that there are 3 biometrics codes. Code 3 is the most comprehensive, where they take your photo, signature and all ten fingers FP. Check your notice in the upper right corner, there should be a box that says "Code".

I am from retrogressed country, I am here for last 12 years & did not got depressed as I do not have GC. In my early years in USA, I used to get depress as I was not having GC but then I started thinking...Is GC is the ONLY important thing in my life?
I started concentrating on my work, constrained my self on checking now& then PDs, LUD's. If feellt depresssed - listening Indian classical music and involving in local commuitiy activities/helping kids in their studies..
Life is beautiful, GC is just part of my life and GC do not drives my life..
Well, I am TOO depressed about the BEC performance. I know too many people are in same situation but I find myself "helpless" and at least i want to SCREAM......:mad:
