    1) Contacted Senator/Congressman/Governor - No reply or progress
    2) Filled 7001 form for Ombudsman - waiting for reply
    3) Called USCIS 10 times in last 10 days and come to know that everything is cleared on my and wife applications. - everytime they tell someting diffrenet .


    its shows how USCIS work ... as if everything is cleared our 485 should be cleared .

    can't take infopass ( no option to check case status) or open SR ( as its not beyond 30 days) .

    I don't think the Canadian officers will ask you that question. But like someone else said on this thread that question may be raised by the US officers when you return. I am curious to know about this myself.

    Aslo (I don't want to scare you but thought you ought to know) there's another discussion going on here http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17061 where the US officers at POE in SF airport raised an issue saying that AP can be only used for imergencies. This looks more like an isolated case but I want everyone to be aware of that case.



    In my case, i do not have a valid H-1B visa stamp. I recently visited India and used Advance Parole. Questions related to this

    1) do i need to surrender my PAROLE I-94 before departing USA?
    2) does canada immigration officer ask me why i have applied for canada gc while my USA gc is in process?:confused:

    It is customary to put one year expiration for I-94 for AP entry. It does not mean much.

    Thanks for posting this link. This is a must read on AOS.

    This link is for section 245 in TITLE 8 OF CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS (8 CFR) (I think!) . This CFR may have other sections of use for us. For example, there may be section 240 that explains some other GC stage.

    Please post a link that is table of contents of CFR. That is, it gives all section titles in CFR: Sec 1, Sec 2, .. Sec 245, Sec 246, ... Thanks!

    Madam Rice is trying to divert the issue by telling skilled professional from all over the world wants to come here....This is not the issue.....

    Issue is there are thousands of high skilled professional with approved labor and I-140 , waiting for years to file I-485.... DOS told then on 13th June that you all can file I-485 and all of the sudden on 2nd July 07 DOS said we can't accept your application...

    So madam secretary it's not issue of how many high skilled professional wants to come here. Infact DOS/USCIS/Govt. of US need to think how life is tough for those high skilled professional who already came here and waiting for years to get green card through legal system....

    Sent on Jun 29th. I don't know when it has reached. My dates were available in June. I am hoping it should have reached Jun 30th.

    Anyone know if they accept packages on Saturday?

    I'm in very similar situation. My dates were available for June as well. My HR/Attorneys did this long and painful bureaucratic process. We have an internal website which says that my case was �filed� on Jun-29th. Don�t know what the fuck that means. Whether it was sent on 29th or received on 29th? Couldn�t get HR to answer.Don�t have direct communication lines with Attorneys... If it�s sent on 29th, does USCIS take packages on Saturday or Sunday? If they take only on Monday, will they throw it out because it reached in July? Oh well, just have to wait and see...

    I think the major bone of contention among the legislators is what to do about the illegal immigrants currently in the country. Amnesty OR no amnsesty is the major debate. Other than that both are in a common frame of mind (in some way) one way or the other regarding - border enforcement, legal immigration, retrogression relief. Now, it looks like there is a common agreement that the skillful legal immigration issue has to be separated from the illgegal immigration related Amnesty OR no Amnesty debate. Hopefully we should see something positive in the next few months. This article seems to indicate in that direction since they have agreed upon one more item, border enforcement -

    All officials have talked about processing 60k visas in a month to avoid visas going waste.
    None was honest enough to say the unused visas expire on 09/30 NOT 06/30.
    So, why the mad rush to give out all visas by 06/30?? We all know why..

    Well on that she will just pass the buck to USCIS -- that was their problem -- and USCIS is DHS' problem not DOS (her Dept).

    I guess I saw a mistake on the writing....

    On July 13th, 2007, DoS provided a glimmer of hope to these aspiring legal immigrants, by announcing in their visa bulletin (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3258.html) that all Employment-based green card applicants and their dependents would be eligible to apply for their Green cards, during the month of July 2007

    It is June 13th not July13th the first visa bulletin sent out by DoS.

    During your conversation with mirage, did you explain to him why it would hurt our cause ? From our discussion in the group, it didn't seem he was aware why IV core was against it.

    I think the threat of "ban" is out of place for mirage. Even if you ban his user id, he can pursue with his agenda irrespective of whether he is banned or not. IV core should educate mirage and other focus group leaders than threatening to ban them.

    There have been so many divisive threads on this forum. IV admins never thought of banning such members.

    He is a genuine member maybe not knowledgeable as IV core. Thats all.
