we are july first week filers! I haven't opened up an SR yet .. intend to do that soon right after the holidays!
We have received everything else though - EAD/AP/RECEIPT etc. for both me and my wife (same's the case with my colleagues)

Actually when you are in H1b and without pay then you are out of status. You and your company are violating the law. Impact for your company is minimal if they get caught. Company could be fined for 10k to 1M based on number of violations. If they violations are so much then your company could be banned for h1b for a few years. In that case they will start different company and escape.
First impact for you is you will face problem while H1b transfer. At the time of transfer if you do not have paystubs your H1 transfer will be denied.
While processing green card USCIS could send RFE regarding this and you need to explain this and USCIS could accept or refuse.
When you are out of status for more than 6 months you are subject to ban of entry for 3 years to USA. And if you are out of status for more than 1 year you subject to 10 year ban. Again they will ask explanation before taking any action. These were extreme cases I never heard of. But if you knowlingly violate law you are taking risk knowlingly. Many cases USCIS is sympathatic. Again this case is similar to hiding tax from IRS and 80% of people get away because of lack of enforcement and 20% people those got caught and their life will be screwed completely.

If you or any one else is planning to move forward with some plans for helping EB3 folks, expect some serious opposition to your efforts. Many EB3 folks themselves do not see any need for EB3 only actions.
A bunch of us talked to a lawyer regarding the INA and the initial reaction was not very encouraging. The lawyer was suggesting us to convert to EB2.
Lawyers would always suggest you to port to EB2, even in case EB3 I is going to be current tomorrow. Simple truth, they need money! So don't listen to lawyers on THIS!

1) Read about how treacherous a path they take when they cross the border. The position they were in their home country is what drives them to risk life to get to a place where they can find a better life and moreover provide a better life to family back at home , whom they may not see even once in few years.
Once you have a fair understanding of their path, in my opinion,you will never compare yourself with them and feel bad about few things that may have gone right for them.
2)The government bringing them to the front of the line is definitely injustice to people who are already there in the queue as well as to those who are going to apply legally in future. They should make sure they don't get precedence over the current applicants and they have to make sure the don't create a block for the future legal applicants.
And none of us should even complain when millions of illegals are suddenly made legal by the Government and they jump the line in front of us for no fault of ours and there are EB3s still waiting from 2001. The illegals have taken a risk right by jumping across the border and staying here illegally???

Once you abandon H1B and get canadian PR, you will need visitor visa to come back to US. My friend did that he comes quite often to visit us.

My I-140 was approved by NSC in feb 2007, and my I485 was delivered on aug 10 to TSC.
1. Does anyone think that my case might be transfered to NSC (since I140 was approved there).
2. Can i file for AP without getting recipt for 485 (instead of recipt i am planning to attach the fedex delivery notice)
3. Is there any way i can find whihc center is having my application.

I plan to apply for SIN but is it required to do medical insurance, PO box and bank account right now?
I am returning back on monday and as of now don't know if i will go to canada or stay in US.

Getting the SIN number is important like SSN number in US. You will need it no matter if you will or will not return to Canada. Get a medium size PO box for atleast one year that will cost you around $80-$100 but its worth it. Opening the account is also important. Deposit few hundred dollars so that your account is in good value until your US immigration is done.

My 140 was pending in TSC since early feb. It got approved on Aug 3rd. My 485 app was receipted on the same date from TSC. So, app was transferred from NSC-> TSC (filed in NSC on June 25th).
So, folks, hold on - you will get receipted soon.

I know quite a few people who have gone back in the last year ;), and contrary to perception are quite happy with the choice they made.
That may be so but the number of those who choose to stay/would rather stay is overwhelming compared to those who don't ;)
